Howdy, I'm Zoey
I'm pursuing communications journalism at college in the fall of 2023 with a minor in business entrepreneurship. I'm still deciding on which college I will be attending but I will be staying in Texas so that I can stay close to my family.
I was born in Lubbock TX and grew up in west TX for the most part. I moved to Prosper during 7th grade and have continued in Prosper ISD through 12th grade. In that time I've been given the position of co-editor-in-chief of Blue Hawk Yearbook and program director of Rock Hill Radio.
I have always had a passion for music. Up until the age of 13, I was a competitive dancer being in every form of dance and performing in everything from The Nutcracker to Thriller. After moving to Dallas I decided to join the band program. I spent 4 years in the band program, 2 playing the clarinet and 2 in the color/ winter guard. I started working on my school's radio station in the fall of 2020 and that is where I fell in love with the radio production world. I have been able to further my knowledge of all audio and digital media systems and have been given the opportunities to explore that world as well as grow as a leader on that staff and it is an opportunity that I am so glad to have had. Under my direction, RHR has won a gold Marcom award, grown in staff size, and increased the level of approval from the student body of the station.
I was given the position of the Co-Editor-in-chief of the Blue Hawk Yearbook in 2022 and it is definitely been one of the greatest experiences of my life. In the fall of 2021, I officially joined my school's yearbook staff and held a position on the editorial board where I was in charge of managing our staff as well as design and copy for our 2022 yearbook "Seen & Heard". Continuing on that staff in 2022 - 23 I have been given the title of Co-Editor in Chief and have a specialty in business, managing, and copy editing!
Journalism is something that I am very passionate about because I feel that there is so much hate and evil in our world and I think it is important that someone shows the world the beauty that is left, just waiting to be discovered.
Journalism Is...
